Here in our area field burning is a late fall through spring before the grass turns to green. It has been on this farms to do list for awhile …. now it’s done! The pastures look so much better no scrubby grass ,the grass will come up nice and tender . It also shows that the fire ants are living well out there.
Hubby uses a gas can like container that has a hose like spout that one lights, then you walk along to light the dry grass.
Almost done .. it does burn rather quickly even though it was done in the evening with very little wind.
The next day…
See that ant hill.. don’t step in it!
Starting to green up again.
For all my northern friends who need a little spring in their day… keep warm!
The grass looks great! DH has supervised several burns over the years. Looks like yours went perfectly.๐ Thanks for including the lovely picture of the flower!

One of our famous painter made a painting from it in 1893.

The painting is wonderful! There are forest controlled burns here also though forestry often does those. We just did our pastures.

I know that fire was all safe and contained but it still gives me the newbie-jeebies to see it. And those horses are so close!

The horses actually donโt mind it, and it burns so quickly that the ground cools off just as quickly.

Interesting how the field makes a new start. I’ve never seen that done.

Oh yes the air can be black sometimes, they do it in the fields around us, but we never see the start as we are always at work ๐
