Some may wonder if hand sewing, with its seemingly endless stitches, has a real place in today’s busy home.
Just as comfortable a place, we reply, as the rocking chair in the nursery. –Sarah Howard Stone
Believe it or not ..it is time for an update. I’m pleased to say that I did get a little done on my quilt . I do need to step it up though if I’m to have this finished by the end of the year!
Here is where I was last update ….
I had the corner to finish before I could do a roll. I finished the corner ,and am headed back almost to the center of the quilt doing the light piece between the white ,navy swag and the turquoise points. I stopped where the glasses , thread and scissors are.
Until the next update,happy sewing!

Deb, that’s amazing. I know you feel like you are going slowly, but I also know how much time fine hand quilting takes, and that’s a project that shouldn’t be rushed, because there’s so much effort in the piecing. You are doing a beautiful job, and I think your progress is fantastic!

That’s a great quote at the start of your post! And, of course, we *know* hand quilting has a place in our homes! I think you got a lot done, considering all the other obligations you have in your busy life, especially now that spring has sprung. DO you have a firm deadline for finishing this quilt?

Thank you,Kerry . I would really like to have the quilt done in time for Christmas to give to Russell and his new bride… they knew they are getting it,just not when.

I think that hand sewing still has a role in today’s world. Most of the sewing that I do is repairing clothes, adjusting hems, etc. – but I definitely find it more relaxing to do it by hand.

It is relaxing, and it’s also very satisfying to see something mended and ready to be used again.
