Aug. 18 …..Hand quilt along update….

Patchwork Quilt

Our family’s like a patchwork quilt,
With kindness gently sewn;
Each piece is an original,
With beauty of its own.
With threads of warmth and happiness,
It’s tightly stitched together
To last in love throughout the years,
Our family is forever.

It is time to do a little show and tell again, can you believe it!

Here’s where I was last update… working on the last block of the first row.

Finished this block ,rolled the quilt continued …quilting on the two blocks above this one ….

Now I’m working on the middle two blocks of this row.

Until next update ,stay cool.

And peek in on what the others are doing!

  1. I’m so glad I came to check on your blog. You’ve made a lot of progress since last time. It probably doesn’t seem that way to you, but part of one and two more – that’s a lot of quilting stitches! I need to make something for the frame, because I’m missing this activity.

    1. It’s nothing fancy, but often back then quilts like this were quilted simply. I thought about the baptist fan but when I did a pattern on see through plastic it didn’t seem right.

  2. I totally agree … back then they kept it simple! Love the fabric choice and whole feel of this beauty your working on. It has such a primitive and perfect feel to it. Loved the poem! Did you write it? Enjoyed your update 🙂 Sharon

  3. The fabrics in this quilt SO appeal to me–those tiny shamrocks and the crescent moons! I think you made absolutely the right choice with the straight line quilting–it complements the lines of log cabin blocks and doesn’t call attention to itself. You’ll be done before you know it!

    1. I know how you feel, and I am drawn to the lady who sewed those lovely fabrics together ,wonder if she had dresses made out of these ,or if she had swapped with other ladies to get the colors she wanted. Quilting straight lines is going quickly even going over the seam lines isn’t to rough.
