Quilt” is derived from the Latin word culcita, which means “stuffed sack.”
And…
The earliest depiction of quilting was discovered in Egypt; it was an ivory figurine of a pharaoh wearing quilted clothing, ca. 3400 BC
Well they say it’s fall time but I’m not really ready to believe that yet as it is still very much like summer here! And dry, we are in what I’ve just learned a flash drought.
So with this flash drought ,I have no grass to cut,or weed whacking to do, it’s been in the upper 90’s to 100’s so I decided to keep my nose inside as much as possible.
Welcome back quilting!👏👏
Here’s where I was …. working in the two center blocks
Finished those two blocks, and quilted the last two ,along with the border.
Closer look at the quilting
Ready for another row of blocks. There’s a little bit of looseness in the blocks but the quilting seems to handle it okay.
That’s it for me this around.😊

I have that same decision to make as I’m about 86% right now. I am still not sure which way I’ll take the blog. I think this quilt looks fabulous with the quilting you are doing. I always like both cross-hatching and diagonal lines. Perfect on this quilt.

The temperatures are dropping, and it feels like fall here. Hopefully you’ll get some fall weather (and some rain) soon.

The weather reports that it’s to drop down to the low 80’s by Sat. Sure hope they are right. Rain? Not in the forecast yet, but if temperatures drop some that will help.

It really I believe started out as more of what we would call a mattress for it was material that was hand sewn to form tubes that were then stuffed. Years old they must had like softer beds too!😀

Thank you! From what I gathered the stuff quilt was more a mattress than what we would think of as quilt, but it was fabric quilted to form tubes then it was stuffed. Somethings never change .. people just like a soft cozy bed.😊
