Sept.25(26)…. Hand quilt along update…

Oh dear.. once again I’m late.🫣 I’m having a time trying to keep up with life, it seems everything is happening the last two weeks of September.

We just got back from PA , grilling brisket for a friend’s wedding of 250 folks, now this weekend ,hubby has a niece getting married on Friday and I have a nephew on Saturday both being in MD ,which is nice for we can take in both weddings as they will only be about 20 miles apart.it just means another 11 hr trip.

I did get some quilting done not as much as I would have liked but temps went back up to 100* again for a few days, guess it is giving us a last fling of summer. Quilting under a quilt in that kind of weather is sweaty business.😀

However ,I have only have eight more blocks to do along with the borders.

Four more just like these showing on the bottom side of hoop.
One of the corners finished.

I’m over the half way point,of that I’m so tickled about!👏🙂

Now off to try and catch up with the others updates.

What a beautiful weekend this has turned out to be! Weather heat has been much reduced to 80’s with nights in the low sixties.

Total of six stars done and working on the seventh.

That’s it for me . Happy stitching !

A hearty welcome to Cathy !so glad you’ve joined us.👏

July 27 ….Christmas in July …4

Hopefully this post goes through…. The Internet has been rather temperamental lately.

Didn’t get as much painted with week. It’s a start.

The photo that comes on the box…

It’s called Indian Summer

Here’s a photo of a little girl getting into icing..😁

Have a great day!

Thank you , Kathy for this fun filled month of Christmas in July!

July,24….Hand quilt along update

Today was a warm one with temps at 98* with a feel of 111* … as of right now there’s a thunderstorm going through that is slinging down rain, and a thunder clap that made me jump out of my skin and back in again.😁

I’m happy with what I got done this round. I’ve started in the middle doing it in quarters , two blocks finished along with sides working on the third block.

In this quarter there will be two blocks across and three down, making six blocks in this quarter while the other quarter will only have 4 blocks.

Close up of quilting design.

That’s it for me this time, so off to see visit the others!

July 13.. Christmas in July….week 2

I didn’t get much done …. As you can see..

Little photo was where I started, the larger, what I painted this week.

We went to Tennessee for the weekend ,the place needed mowing up,the weeds were as tall as I am.😮

What it looks like now…

We have a camera up on the ridge, look who we saw…. My son also happened to see one while hiking.

This is what I saw while hiking.😊

It was a lovely cool weekend with days in the upper 70* and one morning it was 60* out….. it was wonderful!

The lane that leads to our little clearing.

That’s it for me.

July 6 …. Christmas in July Challenge (1)

Kathy@Sewing Etc. is doing a challenge to get some Christmas projects going.

I have several painting I would like to have done ,so I took up her challenge.🙂

Here is the painting that I’m working on. These are paint by number kits that I buy ,then paint to my liking. I love to mix paints, and paint, and the paint by number gives me a design that is right in proportion…(when I draw I have problems getting things in right proportion 😏 so I cheat by using Paint by number.)

Paint by numbers painting
My painting in the works…. As you can see I favor bright colors.

When I finish this painting then hubby wanted this one . Would love to surprise him with it at Christmas.

It is a beautiful one!

Will be interesting to see how much I can get done by the end of this month!

Thanks, Kathy for the kick in the pants.😂

July 3 …. Hand quilt along update…..

I switched projects for a bit here. My whole cloth is put on hold until I get the quilt done for Auntie. I told hubby that I feel I’m racing auntie’s time clock, for she is 84. I would love to have it done for her before she passes on.

Here is where I left off on my whole cloth quilt.

I have folded this patient quilt up .

I was able to do all the appliqué for 20 blocks.

Don’t look to closely at the appliqué stitching… nothing like Kathy’s,or Nanette’s lovely appliqué. However the blocks were wonky so it all fits in.😀
It’s a big one … queen size

I have a good half of it marked. I’m doing mostly grid work with little flowers between the star points .Here’s a photo of the grid work.

Regular grid work on the borders … diamond in the strips between blocks. Then do each star point a quarter inch in from the seam, and outside edge.

A view of the sunset last week from the camper window.

And a photo of my new hybrid of sunflowers.😁

They were make from left over garage door parts… I didn’t make them though, they came from the door company that we deal with as a gift.

That’s it for me this round.

June 14….. settling in…..

I’m sure glad we were able to beat the heat wave with getting all the heavy moving done! We sweated enough in 95* weather. Here is what we have been up too the last few months.

The old block house

Remember we had purchased this old home a few years back. We had problems with getting a clear title because of the sellers family issues. Finally after a year it was cleared up.

Then we relaxed on working on it for the business was consuming our time. Covid brought on at lot of service work with people calling for our services as far as four hours from home.

When Mike’s decided to serve the church in PR, we decided to get serious with remodeling the old house.

LouAnn (our daughter)is living in the old house as she will be staying on after we move on . We will be living in the RV for a bit until the new owner of the business feels he is comfortable in running the business.

Then we will be going to Tennessee to work on the old home there.

Here’s the before and after photos of the old block house.

Kitchen area

We still have a few things to do like a new entry door in the kitchen.

Living room
Bedroom
Bathroom

Here’s where we are …

Home for now

A fuller view..

There is yard work to do yet,and shed in back needs a new door, then the old place will look in much better shape.

Now it’s time to catch up on some quilting.😀
