July 7…. Hand quilt along update….

“Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern–it will come out a rose by and by. Life is like that…one stitch at a time, taken patiently.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes

I didn’t get very far at all on the old log cabin, was having too much fun with grandchildren ,and with their parents as well! The last two weeks went by way tooooo…fast!

Children and summertime warm this Mom mom’s heart!

I must say my recliner feels good tonight though, my but little people have lots of energy!😍

I only got a little over half a block done.

June 16 …Hand quilt along update…..

Happy Father’s Day……It is hard to believe that it has been 13 years since my dad has passed away, and 3 months since Papa Bear has passed ! They both are truly missed.

Now time for the update. 😊

There are six blocks across the quilt with six rows from top to bottom giving a total of 36 blocks to do along with the border. I have finished four of the blocks ,working on number 5. Here I was last time…..

Here is where I am now…

I’m working where the thread is. Here is a crude drawing of how it is to be quilted.

The backing is a piece that I have had for awhile ,it is from Moda fabric .

Happy quilting folks until next time!

May 27… hand quilt along update

Sorry… folks I missed posting yesterday! We were camping in a no signal zone. It was a quick decision to go that I didn’t have time to schedule a post. It was a hot weekend of temps in the 98* to 100* so we went to find water.

I decided to do the log cabin quilt this time around. It will be a no marked quilt ,for I don’t want to have to wash this quilt in a machine. It just might be to fragile for that,or those reds bleed out when washed.

Here’s the start!

I’m not going to set any goals on this one ,what gets done in three weeks who knows.. if the hot weather continues in the 100’s in just might be a lot.

Until next time time check out the others lovely projects!

May 5… Hand Quilt Along update……

It’s done and given!πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ‘πŸ˜€

Here’s a picture of the happy couple!

Russell made the statement that he’ll be taking mom hugs back home with him…why whenever I need a mom hug I’ll just wrap myself up in it.

Now to this mom that was some very sweet words ,my sore fingers automatically were feeling wonderful.

I have two quilts that I have to make my mind up on. Which one would you folks like to see done first?

The log cabin one or the patch block…

That’s it for this update. Here’s my grand daughter getting her 11 month old pictures taken,my daughter for. The first year Lynn takes a photo of the baby to keep track of how they grow so quickly. Here’s Alexis… first photo went great ,the next went even better for Alexis!πŸ˜„

April 14… Hand quilt along….

Tiger woods just won the masters, which is held an hr from where we live. Every year people are fixing up their homes for to rent out to folks attending the big event. That’s a plus for us ,as people and business need their doors whether it’s a garage door or a commercial store front door in good order…..

so what’s that got to do with quilting… Nothing, nothing at all..😁 just good to read that someone who messed up his life for a bit.. didn’t give up a passion of his but tried again!

Sorry to report I didn’t get to the end of the last row, even though I came close. I’m excited about being so close to the end though!! Russell’s are coming home around May 11 for a surprise birthday for hubby! I do hope I can have it ready to give it to them then to take home instead of mailing it.

Here’s what I have left to do,all that you see in the photo.

Until next update take care friends…

Check these out if you have time, and want to see some lovely at Home creativity.

March 24… Hand quilt along……

Three weeks just slipped by again! And I have a finish …πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Little Grammy is finished ,I really like it.

Those old fabrics are so lovely!

I also had a baby blanket to crochet for a baby gift. Baby blankets are so fun to do.

I’m back to working on the Fire Island Hosta quilt ,I had to take it out of the frame ,my arms are short and the rolled finished part was getting to high for me to quilt comfortably.

I am working on the last row ,I’m on the corner working towards the right corner, when I get there it will be finishing time!

Feb.10…Hand quilt along ….

Here are some of the superstitious saying that some of the ladies wrote, I found them interesting ,also did some googling as I wonder how they ever came to be…

1. Never walk under a ladder.

Interesting enough.. the Egyptians started that one, they thought a ladder formed a triangle ,and triangles were sacred to them as it referred to the trinity,so to walk through was to desecrate them.

Then centuries later the Christians ( that was a shockerπŸ™‚) took a little different turn when a ladder was placed against the cross , it then was a symbol of wickedness, betrayal and death.

In England in the 1600 made their prisoners walk under a ladder to the gallons.

2 when you spill salt toss some over your shoulder to avoid bad luck

This was started 3,500 BC by the Sumerians.

3. Never bring a peacocks feather indoors

For the western world it was believed that it there were any single girls in the house ,and there was a feather the girls were doomed to be old maids ,the eastern world brought them in the house especially the ones that looked like there was an eye that meant they had an extra eye to watch over them.

4. Never rock a rocking chair with no one in it,or your invite a ghost or spirits in.

That’s a southern favorite, which wouldn’t surprise me that came over with the Irish as that is where it originated from

5. Step on a crack and break your mothers back

This started when racism become prevalent in the 19,20th century with the saying of step on a crack and you’re Mother’s baby will be black.

Well that will give you readers something to think on.

Now time again for update!

πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ I have Grammy ready for trimming the sides then binding πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

A closeup of the back…

I also worked on the Fire Island Hosta quilt ….here is where I was

Here is where I am now….

You can see that I working on the end where the green stops

I’m tryin hard to get these two projects finished before the outside work hits full swing. I’ve already been out planting potatoes, onions with lettuce ,peas and red beets waiting.
