Always do the right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

It’s update time… that means three more weeks have flown by… while that means I have had a change in the daily routine ,for we took Leona camping, I was able to quilt on my double wedding ring that I had put away until cooler weather. The weather hasn’t cooled off much as of yet , but the breeze off the lake was perfect for quilting.
So here’s the update… no work done on the Fire Island Hosta quilt worth bothering with. So here’s the Double wedding ring quilt …. last time…
I had nine of the circles finished… today I have 17 circles finished with three more circles until complete.
Details…
Also a warm welcome to Gretchen! Glad you joined us.

I never thought you could lap quilt a larger quilt. Ergo, I never tried. Until this post I hadn’t realized that was what you had been doing. Outstanding work!

If the quilt is really large like my Fire Island Hosta quilt which is 100” by 100” than I use my frame. I rather enjoy lap quilting as I can move it to where ever I feel like sitting, and in the winter it’s delightful to have it spread out over my legs and feet!

Deb, y legs and feet are my coldest parts in winter. Maybe I should get more involved in hand quilting larger items? That is, if we ever get to see cold weather again. 92 deg. today! 😯

I think we might see some cooler weather after this hurricane goes through.

Thank you! I did a larger one for a community lady in navy ,loved it ,so decided I needed a smaller version using vintage fabric.

So very pretty, and so many circles completed! Ten seems like a huge number to me. 👏 I really like the flower motif you have used in the center.

Thank you,Kathy! After walking with Leona 3 to 4 miles in a morning ,I was ready to sit for awhile to quilt! We went camping for a week as the weather was perfect for Leona to be out in.

Gorgeous work!! I LOVE the close up shot of the hand stitching on the double-wedding ring. You do such beautiful work. Good thing I’m seeing it on the computer. (The drool is easier to wipe off the screen instead of the actual quilt LOL)

Thank you! What a lovely comment from a lady who hand sews beautiful quilts entirely by hand… do you even own a sewing machine?

I simply have quilt envy, its beautiful and the stitching is so neat and then you throw in you did a bigger one. I think I like this one the most, because of the vintage fabric and the blue sets of the pattern of the fabric wonderfully, clever you 🙂
